Cameron McCarthy was hired by Linn County Parks & Recreation to lead a master planning process for Lewis Creek Park, located east of Sweet Home, OR on OR-22. Lewis Creek Park, a county park at Foster Lake, is heavily used by local and regional communities throughout the late spring through fall. Cameron McCarthy’s role was to study the site, its history, context, and existing conditions and then research libraries of information-gathering efforts ranging from individual interviews, interviews with event management companies, tabling events at the park, and interactive engagement tactics. CM used comprehensively collected information to craft design concepts. The final Lewis Creek Park site design reflected community feedback and offered critical infrastructure upgrades that improve the safety, accessibility, and useability of the park features and amenities. The overall park concept prioritized accessibility throughout all amenities. The master plan was adopted in 2022. It is the county’s first fully accessible park.
