Rebuilding a Legacy

Cameron McCarthy has been an essential partner in developing Civic Park since it was in the fundraising stages. CM provided in-kind design services early in the process to help secure funding. This evolved into CM being the lead landscape architect on the project. The site has a rich history as it was the location of the historic Em’s baseball stadium that tragically burned. Before this altering event, the plan was to renovate the stadium and build on the site. However, with the total loss of the Civilian Conservation Corps era structure, the entire project team was forced to return to the drawing table, resulting in a complete redesign of the site to house Kidsports and offer a professional-level soccer pitch (home to Lane United). Today, the community enjoys the reinvigorated space that serves youth athletic programs and professional soccer.
