Christine Ransom

Christine excitedly joined Cameron McCarthy’s Bend office in the early spring of 2022. Although Christine has lived spent time living along the gorge and in the Willamette Valley, she spent most of life in Central Oregon. Christine developed a deep appreciation for Oregon with its diverse landscape and endless beauty. Always drawn to nature and the outdoors Christine spent many years working at nurseries. It was at the nurseries where she cultivated her love and knowledge of plant life. While content with life in Bend, Christine had an urge to take her career further and found the field of Landscape Architecture. Christine moved to Eugene to pursue a degree in landscape architecture from the University of Oregon’s Landscape Architecture program where she graduated with her BLA in 2017.

After graduation, Christine stayed in Eugene for a year working with The Long Tom Watershed Council (LTWC). Under the supervision of their resident Landscape Architect, she assisted with the design of stormwater retrofit systems in urban areas. Their work involved helping businesses reduce their stormwater impact through green infrastructure on their property. Through her work with LTWC she gained insight into the environmental impacts of stormwater runoff to local waterways and how, through design and plant selection, how landscape architects and designers could make huge impacts where they live.

Ultimately, Christine returned to Bend to be closer to family and friends. Between 2018 and 2022 she worked for a Landscape Architecture firm in Bend focusing on high end residential and commercial properties. Shortly after returning home and integrating into the local Landscape Architecture community she took an opportunity as the High Desert ASLA Section Co-Chair. She used this platform to generate community awareness about the field of Landscape Architecture, connect with different disciplines and organizations to facilitate design charettes, provide social opportunities, as well as encourage the local community to take part in clean up events.

Outside of landscape architecture Christine is constantly working different projects from do-it-yourself home renovations to starting up a dumpling food cart and delivery business. A self-proclaimed amateur junk artist she spends her creative time sculpting sea creatures out of clay and things she finds. She is ridiculously proud of it.

When she is not working, creating, doing karaoke, or making dumplings she can often be found doing one of her two favorite things. Napping or out spending time with family, friends, and her two little dogs and one fatty catty.
